Blu Marlin
The brief

One waterfront brand, two Cairns venues

Blu Marlin Bistro sits on the water's edge next to the Reef Fleet Terminal, serving barista coffee, all-day breakfast and lunch to locals and reef-bound travellers, plus a Portsmith sister cafe, Little Blu. The challenge was to carry an all-day, two-venue, tourist-and-local operation into one clean site that also takes bookings. The build answers with a live reservation widget, dedicated location pages with embedded maps, a food-forward homepage and a newsletter draw that turns passing reef-terminal traffic into a mailing list.

What we built

Inside the build

  • Live table reservations. An embedded TableAgent widget lets guests book a date, time and party of up to ten online, with a notes field for dietary needs and special occasions and a clear prompt to phone for larger groups.
  • Two venues on one site. Separate location pages for the waterfront Blu Marlin at the Reef Fleet Terminal and Little Blu in Portsmith, each carrying its own hours, address, offers and an embedded Google Map.
  • A homepage that refreshes itself. A rotating hero pairs the venue's food and waterfront photography with a live @blumarlinbistro Instagram feed, so the page keeps showing current specials without a manual update, while a dedicated menu page lays out the full breakfast and lunch menus as clear on-page images.
  • Incentives built into the site. A newsletter sign-up enters subscribers into a monthly $100 breakfast voucher draw, sitting beside the standing 10% Fitzroy Island discount that ties the cafe to reef-terminal foot traffic.
