The Local SEO Checklist for Cairns Businesses (Print This One)

Every local SEO task in one checklist, in do-this order, with honest time estimates and the five items that do most of the lifting.

Local SEO comes down to about twenty tasks across five areas: your Google profile, your website, reviews, citations, and content. Do them in the order below and the important ones first, because five of the twenty do most of the lifting. Time estimates are honest, and every item links to the deeper guide if you want the why.

Tier 1: the five that move the needle (do these first)

Task Time Guide
Complete every field of your Google Business Profile, right primary category 2 hrs once Profile guide
Set up the review ask: direct link, sent after every job 1 hr setup Review system
Create a page per service on your site Days (or a build) Page list
Fix site speed to 80+ mobile Varies Speed guide
Make name/address/phone identical everywhere 2-3 hrs NAP guide

Tier 2: weekly habits (10-15 minutes)

  • Reply to every new review, two sentences.
  • Add 2-3 real job photos to your profile.
  • Post one update (finished job, tip, availability).
  • Answer any new Q&A or messages on the profile.

Tier 3: monthly builders

  • Publish one genuinely useful page or post answering a real customer question (this is topical authority, the thing this blog is doing right now).
  • Add one new citation or local mention: supplier, directory, club, industry body. (How locals earn links.)
  • Check Search Console: what you rank for, what slipped, any errors. (Reading the numbers.)
  • Submit your latest jobs as case-study content, every real job is fresh local proof (automated for our clients via TradeProof).

Tier 4: quarterly checks

  • Search your money terms incognito from your service suburbs, note movement against the three map-pack holders. (The map pack plan.)
  • Update service pages: prices, photos, new FAQs from real calls.
  • Audit for the classic mistakes: the top 10 list.

What this checklist will and won’t do

Done consistently, this beats most of your local competition, because most of them do none of it. What it will not do is out-muscle a funded competitor on brutal keywords or replace the structural work of a proper campaign. When you hit that ceiling, that is the difference between DIY and a managed campaign, and the honest budget conversation is in what SEO costs.

Want us to run the whole checklist for you and report monthly in plain English? That is literally the job: book a discovery call. The full strategy context lives in the SEO Cairns guide.
